A influência da criminologia midiática na construção do discurso da necessidade de redução da maioridade penal no Brasil

Abstract

It is intended, through this work, to identify that the perception of the need to reduce the age of criminal responsibility is developed, in large part, by the influence of the media, considering that the crime narrative arouses fascination, and, consequently, generates an audience and engagement, therefore, the criminal offense is a topic widely addressed by the media. And, linked to this, there is the fact that the media plays a decisive role in the formation of public opinion, since it is responsible for the social construction of reality.

In this perspective, the main objective of this paper is to answer the following question: how does media criminology influence the structuring of the discourse on the need to reduce the age of criminal responsibility from eighteen to sixteen in Brazil?

To achieve the objectives set, the first chapter, supported by a constitutional analysis and special legislation, composed of the Statute of Children and Adolescents and the National System of Socio-Educational Assistance, summarizes the treatment given by Brazilian legislation to children and adolescents.
