Mulheres negras, contextos sociais, saúde mental e políticas de saúde pública: cenários que constroem e são construídos pela identidade

Abstract

The present study aims to outline the barriers and challenges faced by Black women in accessing the constitutional right to mental health. To achieve this, it will first delve into historical factors contributing to a context that places Black women in situ-ations of social vulnerability. Subsequently, it will highlight sociodemographic data to illustrate how these challenges are shaped by factors such as racism, sexism, poverty, and limited access to healthcare. The study will also provide an analysis of the Unified Health System and its role in promoting social justice, emphasizing the role of feminist social movements in shaping the affirmative and specialized implementation of policies tailored to the specific needs of the Black female population. Consequently, Black women often find themselves with inadequate human development indices, making them more susceptible to common mental disorders. This, in turn, hinders the ability of the Unified Health System, despite having public policies aimed at Black women, to comprehensively address their specific needs.
